Worms, Weeds and Moles!
We’ve seen an increase in worm casts this autumn and for some of us, worms can be a real problem for our lawn. There are 26 or so UK species, but only a handful come to the surface and form problem worm casts. The worm creates a cast on top of the surface which can aid weed germination and amongst other problems attract moles looking for food and as we know, moles can devastate a lawn. However, worms can help our lawns by burrowing and aerating the soil, digging, digesting and depositing the organic matter.
We are able to offer a couple of solutions to the problem by discouraging the worms to come to the surface, therefore stopping the casts, but letting the other worms carry on their business of helping the lawn! Call us today if worms are a problem for you.
